Stephen N. Polezonis, OD

Dr. Polezonis received his BA in History from DePauw University, Greencastle, Indiana, in May of 1977. He has studied at Trinity College, Hartford, CT (Economics), Central Connecticut State University (Basic Sciences and Mathematics) and the University of Houston (pre-Optometry). He received his Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in May of 1987, his Therapeutics Certification from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1992 and his Advanced Optometric Practice Certification and Diplomate in Glaucoma from the State University of New York College of Optometry in 1996.

Dr. Polezonis has been in practice in central Connecticut since 1987 in a variety of settings including private practice, group Optometric and multi-disciplinary group practice. Presently he is the Chief Clinician at the New Britain Lions Community Eye Clinic, located on the campus of the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain and he practices with Doctors Joseph Pavano and Lauren Guzik at DOCTOR PAVANO & Associates offering full scope Optometric care in New Britain and Bristol. Dr. Polezonis offers comprehensive eye examinations for children and adults, ocular disease treatment and management (including glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy), refractive surgery and cataract surgery co-management and contact lens fitting.

Dr. Polezonis not only provides primary eye care at the New Britain Lions Eye Clinic and DOCTOR PAVANO & Associates locations he also participates in volunteer eye screenings for the Lions Club and for the Connecticut Association of Optometrists (CAO), including local lions club screenings, the Hispanic Health Fair in Hartford and the Veterans' Stand Down in Rocky Hill. He is an advisor to the Lions Low Vision Center, the Lions Eye Health Program and the Lions Pediatric Screening Initiative.

The New Britain Lions Community Eye Clinic is located at 33 Highland Street in New Britain and serves residents of New Britain and surrounding communities who have no access to health insurance and cannot afford eye care and/or eye wear. For an appointment please call 860-225-4033.

Dr. Polezonis is a member of the American Optometric Association, The Connecticut Association of Optometrists (serving on the Academic Committee), serves as an examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and is on the board of the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation (CLERF). He is also on the Alcon Pharmaceutical speakers panel.
